There are other ways, but wihtout knowing which version you are using, there may be some missing tools or incorrect steps to try and talk you through. The easiest would be to copy your "cutout" object into this new layout. ![]() Be sure there is a check in the "No Background" box. If you keep seeing a white background (the default background color) it might be easiest to go to File -> New and create a new layout. Assuming your object is not square, you should see a checkerboard background (again, assuming no background fill color is selected). This can be set on a "transparent" background by either deleting the original image completely, and you will see a checkerboard background (assuming you have no fill set for the background) or copying the new object (CTRL +C) and going to File -> New From Clipboard. ![]() It will appear that nothing has happend when you do this, but if you click on the item and drag it around, you will see it is a copy of only the parts that were masked. This makes a "floating" object of what you just masked. The easiest way is to mask the object, only the parts you want to show, Go to Object -> Create -> Object: Copy Selection (or cut selection if you want to destroy the original image). Depending on which version you are using, there are various ways to accomplish this. You dont select a transparent color - but you remove the background.
